After the long-overdue break, I´m happy to announce that we´re back in business :)
During this break, I´ve managed to relocate back home to the city of Eskilstuna where I lived before I moved away for studies. My wife and I are currently looking for houses and hopefully, we´ll be able to find a place to call home in a short while.

In regards to my new professional life, I´m gradually settling into my new role as a product developer and mechanical engineer at Deva Mecaneyes in Västerås. I´m truly pleased with my position in the company and the work that I'm allowed to carry out. At the moment I work on a fulltime consultant contract towards ABB traction in Västerås focusing on Production development. This allows me to design new tools and try them out. And I could not be more pleased with the role since I like to get a little dirty from time to time.

regarding the status of the HydraCoupler, everything is moving along slowly but stable. I received some good news from the case officer handling my PCT application (European patent application), where the verdict came in and the letter stated that my idea fills the three criteria needed for issuing the patent.

  • The product is considered a novelty.
  • The product carries an inventive step.
  • It´s industrially applicable.

And I could not be more pleased and excited about this news :) The next major step in this process is when the patent becomes public and the final step begins, the objection period. Hopefully, the case officers have done their due diligence and no one can object towards their verdict and I could finally get this long process over. As soon as the patent becomes public I'll publish a web link towards the patent for everyone to see :)

And I can also proudly announce that I recently was chosen as the winner of DHR2019 scholarship for product development for impaired users. This is truly a huge honor to win, as the first year of running this scholarship I placed in first place with my HydraCoupler. at the price ceremony, I had the pleasure to meet many new people all aiming to make a difference for impaired people, and it was educational to see how different people have reached their success and how their story was told. I´m currently trying to make a calculated decision for how I should spend the winnings for most gain, and I'm currently looking into starting a company in 2020 so some of the funds is most likely going to be spent on this since it could help me later on if a deal could be done with a partner later on.

I guess I´ll have to round off my update about here. I´ll make sure to make one more update before new years with my hopes and wishes for 2020 :)

And you can allways follow my work either here or on my instagram; @hydracoupler

Kind regards
Martin Adelholt
